Play to Protect and Empower

Right To Play is a global organization that uses the transformative power of play to protect, educate and empower children facing adversity. Through weekly sport and play activities, Right To Play helps over 1.9 million children and youth around the world - including right here in Canada - learn to be leaders and inspire social change. Operating in 15 countries, Right To Play was founded in 2000 by social entrepreneur and four-time Olympic gold medalist Johann Olav Koss.

We are committed to improving the lives of girls and boys affected by conflict, disease and poverty by helping them to rise above challenges and adversity. These children have the ability to change their lives and the lives of those in their community; Right To Play supports these children through play-based learning. Play, among others, can teach the importance of hygiene, leadership, tolerance and peace. For example, a game of tag can teach children how to protect themselves and their families from malaria.

Programming in Canada includes Youth To Youth (Y2Y), a Toronto-based peer-to-peer youth leadership program, the Promoting Life-skills in Aboriginal Youth (PLAY) program, which reaches more than 85 First Nations communities and urban Aboriginal organizations across Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia and focuses on building resiliency and improving health, employability, and educational attainment, as well as Play Your Part (PYP), a free program that comes to your school and explores the themes of gender equality, global citizenship and student leadership using the universal language of all children & youth: PLAY.

By choosing Right to Play as your EchoAge birthday party you will make it possible for us to offer play-based programming that helps even more children gain confidence, embrace gender equality, and develop life skills.
